Quote:"Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus" Editorial Is Published (1897)
In 1897, eight-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon of New York City asked her father if Santa Claus was real.
When he suggested that "if you see it in The Sun, it's so," she wrote to the newspaper and asked.
Editor Francis Pharcellus Church's lengthy, touching reply became one of the most reprinted newspaper editorials in US history.
"Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias".
Is There a Santa Claus?

There's no hidden purpose, here we don't like cheese pizza nor Islam. It's simply a thread where you can post any article or piece of information as long as it's written in English. Just for the shake of endorsing and practicing this noble language!
And why not, you can discuss anything you want to as well as long as it's about a specific subject in English. I just hope this thread isn't used for jabbering or chatter (please!).

I'm very self-conscious about my English, so I'm not sure I'll participate much. But will follow the thread for sure!

We should do that here in Spain too. Swap for instance Religion or French for some subject that could actually be useful to teach students things that increased their general skills at life since an early age. Besides home finances I'd also teach them about etiquette, civil manners and values... From elementary school to college there are just a lot of things that could be taught that would be more useful than Religion or French.

Quote:The Tunguska Event
In 1908, a massive aerial explosion near Siberia's Stony Tunguska River flattened 500,000 acres (2,000 sq km) of forest—felling an estimated 80 million trees over 830 sq mi (2,150 sq km) and producing a shockwave that shattered windows hundreds of miles away. Known as the Tunguska event, the explosion is thought to have measured 5.0 on the Richter scale, with an estimated energy 1,000 times more powerful than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. What do most scientists believe caused the event?

It's funny because the author was able predict the future.

Amor y verano. Aunque no creo que te hayas fijado antes en la letra que en Sara.
Btw si quieres darle al inglés el hilo de vocaroos de Fara era buena idea, podrías reflotarlo :_D
